Crazy Costumes: Movies!

We had our first Crazy Costume day of the summer and this week, the theme was movies! It was so fun to see all of our favourite movie characters running around camp. We saw everyone from Harry Potter to Captain Jack Sparrow and we were so impressed with the creativity everyone put in to their costumes.

We also had our first Hawk & Mustang Mayhem where the hawks and mustangs competed in an epic boys vs. girls battle of Capture the Minion. After a movie-trivia round where the girls won a 5 second advantage, both teams gave it their all! In the end, the boys took home the victory and they all can’t wait until next week for a rematch.

We had such an unforgettable first week here at camp. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of kids to kick off this summer with and we’re so excited for the rest of the summer. See you next week!

Fun Days and Tasty Treats!

Today was a great success with plenty of fun activities done in each group. Campers were doing various activities from playing soccer and tetherball to swimming and doing arts and crafts. The great energy produced by the fantastic campers and counselors only made the day better.

We are all so excited at camp to get ready for our dress-up day tomorrow where the theme is: MOVIES! We encourage all campers to dress up in any way the can 🙂

At Tasty Treats (an optional half say program) the Mustang, Hawk, and Tiger girls in the program attempted to make Apple Caramel Bites and Chocolate Covered Pretzels. All week these girls assisted by the two Tasty Treats counselors, Alexandra and Charlotte, have been creating wonderful treats to eat, from layered dip to dessert pizzas. Here is one of the following recipes the girls used this week:

Pizza Treats

  • 3 table spoons of butter/margarine
  • 1 package of marshmallows
  • 6 cups of Rice Krispies  cereal
  • Canned Frosting
  • Assorted Gummies
  • Multi-coloured Sprinkles
  • Microwavable Bowls
  • Plastic Safe Knifes

  1. In a microwavable safe bowl melt the butter. Add marshmallows and stir completely until melted
  2. Add Rice Krispies. Stir until well coated
  3. Flatten a ball of Rice Krispies into a bowl
  4. Add Icing as a base for the Treat Pizza
  5. Decorate with gummies and enjoy!

A bouncy day at Camp!

Wow! Another INCREDIBLE day at camp!

Every day is great at camp, but today was especially fantastic. With two bouncy castles and Kangoo Jump boots, Riverwood definitely broke the record for the bounciest day ever! Everyone was so excited and laughter could be heard all the way from the pool. With the extra special programming along with all of the other amazing activities today (check out the paper bag monsters we made at Arts and Crafts!) everyone was sad to see the day end. We can’t wait to get back to the fun tomorrow.

See you all there!

A new summer at Riverwood!

We are so excited to be back at Riverwood starting another incredible summer! The past two days have been packed with fun and it is only the beginning. It was amazing seeing all of the familiar faces, as well as the beautiful new ones and we can’t wait to see the many new friendships bloom throughout the summer. It may have rained today, but we didn’t let it get us down! We had a dance party and played plenty of games underneath the shelter. We’ve had two incredible days here at camp, and if they are any indication of the rest of the summer we know it is going to be the best one yet.

Thank you all for sharing your summers with us year after year, we are so looking forward to the rest of this one.

Check back here for daily updates and pictures!
